“When back in 2005 I was asked to perform Greek “Early” Songs in the US and I immediately researched and included songs of the Greek tradition and chants of the Byzantine era, I could have never imagined the reception of this kind of music from the American audience. Greek traditional songs and Byzantine hymns with their ancient heritage spoke directly to the hearts of the people. A noon recital in the M.I.T Chapel in the Spring of 2006 that included half the program Elizabethan tunes and the other half Greek secular and sacred pieces, led into a fascinating three-year-tour over the New England area under the title “Graecia Magna I,II,III” and in 2010 will be hopefully back more evolved and updated as “Far away Land-songs from Greece”. I could have never thought that I would have had to travel so far in order to discover for once more the songs of my country and childhood. And there came the first album with Greek traditional songs in my own production, with a new perspective and a personal touch that will hopefully transmit some of the Greek light to the audiences …” Panayotis Terzakis
